About PTCMAAS
Our Purpose
PTCMAAS is a non-profit organization working toward safe and professional practice of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Saskatchewan. Currently, Acupuncture is an unregulated profession in Saskatchewan. We intend to bridge support, public understanding and professional growth among the public and practicing acupuncturists. We strive to maintain the standards described in our bylaws.
A short history
2003
Practitioners in Saskatchewan began gathering to share professional knowledge and experiences and support public education.
2003 to 2011
The group organized public education events, workshops, and worked on association infrastructure while connecting with other health associations.
June 25, 2012
The society was registered in Saskatchewan as the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Society, Inc. (Entity No. 101210517) with 21 founding members.
Today
The association continues with a volunteer Board of Directors, member volunteer support, and continuing education events.
How we support safe practice
Safety is encouraged through professional development and standards for practitioner education. PTCMAAS membership requirements and expectations are described in the bylaws and related policies. These requirements include education standards and ongoing competence measures that are re- evaluated every year.
